Play-Off Final

Today Reading and Swansea will face of at Wembley Stadium to determine who will get promoted to the Barclays Premier League. It should be an exciting game and fairly close.
In 2007 Derby were in the same position as they played and beat West Bromwich Albion 1-0 to gain promotion to the top flight in English football and debatably the best league in the world. That day will live long in Derby fans memories even if the reward of winning the game will stay in our memories for the wrong reasons.
When Derby got promoted it was reportedly worth £60 Million but the winner of today’s game is expected to gain £90 Million and if they use the money wisely they could cement themselves as a premier league team.
Many fans will want Reading to get promoted today as they don’t want to see a Welsh team in the English top flight but it will be a day to remember for the winning fans, lets just hope next season Derby are in this position and get back to where they belong.

Conor Doyle

Last pre-season Derby County took 19 year old Conor Doyle on trail and they were so impressed with his performances in pre-season friendly's that they decided to offer him his first professorial contract. Before the trail Doyle was studying at Creighton University so it was a life changing opportunity for him and he grabbed it in both hands.
This season Doyle has made 5 starts and 9 substitute appearances which the young American wasn't expecting as he said when answering a question about his involvement this season "more playing time than i'd every thought i'd get".
Not only has he been featuring for Derby he has also been away on international duty for USA U20 and made a big impact which impressed his American coaches.
He described his first season as "incredible" and said the only thing he could wish for now was his "first senior goal".
When talking about next season the 19 year old said that he wants to "push for a position in the team" and that Derby could "push for the play-off's".
I believe Doyle definitely has potential as some of his performances I've seen have certainly been better than satisfactory and considering his age he has a couple more years of development in him which will improve him as a player. His personality seems right to as he seems to keep his feet firmly on the ground and knows that he has to keep improving to play a more prominent role in the team.
In my opinion one for the future.

Tyson : Yes or No?

We all know that we have been strongly linked with the out of contract Nottingham Forest striker Nathan Tyson even more so as reportedly talks with him and Millwall have broken down, but would you be happy with this signing?
There are two sides to this story really. The first side is that he could be a decent addition to our current squad as his pace can get him past most defenders and he's not a bad finisher either. He's 29 too so he's not "young" and his experience would also be a good addition to our very young squad, even if most of his experience has been gained while with Nottingham Forest.
The second side of the story is well he's caused a bit of trouble during and after the games where Derby and Forest met to put it lightly. The main incident that has occurred is when Tyson started to wave the Nottingham Forest flag in front of the Derby County fans, it caused outrage amongst the players and the fans and since then there has been a hatred between many Derby County fans and the striker.
If he did sign i'm sure it would cause debate among many Rams fans and I would expect him to get a lively reception on his home debut, but if he can prove himself and become a key player for us then i'm sure many will forgive.

Derby In Europe

As the Champions League final approaches tonight where Manchester United will face of to Barcelona were going to look at Derby's memories of playing in Europe. Although our time in Europe may not be as lengthy as other clubs we've had memorable moments. An example of this is when the Rams beat Real Madrid 4-1 at the Baseball Ground and Charlie George got his name on the score sheet 3 times.
In 1972 the Rams also got to the semi-final of the cup after beating Benfica 3-0 at the Baseball Ground. Also at the Baseball ground Derby beat the Irish team Finn Harps 12-0 which proved to be the highest goal margin in a European game.
It looks like an eternity until Derby will once again play in Europe but one day it will happen I've got no doubt in that (even if it is through the fair play system) and when it does hopefully we will be able to go one step forward and win the competition. We can all pray.
Charlie George

Frank Fielding - England Number 1?

With Frank Fielding preparing for the U21 European Championships with England do you think he could one day become England's number 1?
The 23 year old goalkeeper has already had a 1st team call up in 2010 against Hungary and is now securing his number 1 spot for the U21 team. His two loan spells this season in which he impressed a lot of fans earn't him a contract at Derby to the relief of a lot of supporters as a lot of his performances were outstanding.
With Ben Foster and Paul Robinson retiring from international duty to concentrate on their club duty's is this the chance for Fielding to really impress during this summer? I believe it is, despite Joe Hart having the England number 1 shirt could Fielding mount a challenge for 2nd or even 3rd choice goalkeeper? Only time will tell but if the current England goalkeepers carry on dropping out like fly's you never know what could happen.
